Northwest Neighborhoods announces Interim Executive Director

May 31, 2023

Northwest Neighborhoods CDC (NWN) announces that its Managing Director, Bridget Kent Márquez, has been appointed as Interim Executive Director. Adam Stalder is departing from his role as Executive Director of NWN, effective June 14, 2023, to take on a new opportunity at the Cuyahoga Land Bank as Director of Community Stabilization.

Stalder has played a critical role in the success and evolution of the organization while on staff. After becoming the Executive Director in 2020, Stalder led a successful, members-approved merger of the former Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization and Cudell Improvement, Inc. Leading the unified Northwest Neighborhoods CDC, Adam cultivated relationships with partner organizations and facilitated the development of a comprehensive, five-year strategic plan. This soon-to-be-released plan focuses the organization's efforts on equitably serving residents with the greatest needs, including tenants of NWN's 300+ affordable housing units.

Anna Perlmutter, President of NWN’s board, states, “I thank Adam for his years of dedicated service to this organization. Adam has steered NWN through a period of many changes, culminating in an exciting vision for the organization and the neighborhoods we serve. While he will be greatly missed, his new role will allow for continued, shared work supporting the Detroit Shoreway, Cudell, and Edgewater neighborhoods. Our whole community will continue to benefit from Adam’s work in the years to come, and our board and staff wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Adam Stalder, outgoing Executive Director of NWN states, “It has been a true privilege to serve our communities over the past 13 years. I am extremely proud of our accomplishments in that time, and I am eternally grateful to the NWN staff, board, and all of our wonderful neighbors who make this area special. The organization is in great hands with Bridget and the board of directors, and I am confident that they will continue to foster communities where anyone can thrive.”

Following this announcement, the NWN board and staff will work together under Kent Márquez’s leadership to ensure that the organization operates in a stable and effective manner while implementing the new strategic plan, conducting a search for its next Executive Director, and ushering NWN through this time of transition. The board and staff look forward to the next chapter of NWN’s service to our Cudell, Detroit Shoreway, and Edgewater community.
