2024 Board Election Candidates

Members of Northwest Neighborhoods CDC can vote in our organization’s elections. Become a 2024 member here.

Our 2024 Board Elections will take place during our Annual Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 29. Members will receive instructions for voting in advance.

Board Candidates

The following individuals are eligible applicants for our Board of Directors.

  • Commercial/Institutional: Nina Holzer

    Nina Holzer is the Director of Financial Mobility with CHN Housing Partners, where she provides programmatic leadership and oversees the direction of the Financial Mobility Center. A macro social worker and Northeast Ohio native, Nina is passionate about housing and economic justice. Prior to joining CHN, she served as Program Manager in the City of Cleveland’s Community Development Department, where she oversaw the development and launch of the City’s Healthy Homes Initiative. Additionally, Nina has worked as Manager of CDC Advancement with Cleveland Neighborhood Progress and as a Researcher & Project Manager with the Center on Urban Poverty and Community Development at Case Western Reserve University.

    Nina is a member of NeighborWorks’ Financial Capability Advisory Committee, the City of Cleveland’s Board of Zoning Appeals, the Hebrew Free Loan Association board, and the Cleveland VOTES Advisory Committee (where she serves as Finance Committee chair). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French from Ohio University, as well as a Master of Science in Social Administration and a Master of Nonprofit Organizations from the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. She currently lives in the city of Cleveland’s Clifton-Baltic neighborhood with her husband and their pets.

  • SE Residential: Paula Furst

    Paula Furst has lived in the Cudell neighborhood for about 20 years.  She is a licensed real estate agent, with experience in residential and commercial property management and real estate development.  Her background is in employment services & political organizing, and she has a BA in English & Political Science from John Carroll University.  Regarding Northwest Neighbors Board service, Paula is most interested in supporting local economic development, promoting neighborhood resources, thoughtfully adding public art and placemaking, and thinking about how to increase wild and green spaces in our urban environment.

  • NE Residential: Charles Park

    Charles is a Northwest Neighborhoods resident in the Templin Bradley building on 57th and Detroit. He has lived in Cleveland, and specifically this neighborhood, since he was born. As a child Charles went to Gordon Elementary School and West Jr.High School (now Gallagher middle school) and was formerly a Mail Carrier at 44102 station A until he retired in 2007. Charles is a 60 year old Veteran of the USAF, and has a BA in Psychology and German Language from Cleveland State University. He worked in social work and has always been passionate about helping others. He is active in community activities through the LGBTQ center and hopes to continue to be involved advocating for his neighbors and neighborhood.

  • SW Residential: Jonathan Steirer

    Jonathan is a 7-year resident of Cudell and has been grateful to serve as Vice President of both Cudell Improvement Inc. and Northwest Neighborhoods. Jonathan currently serves as the co-chair of the Governance Committee and is also involved with the Tenant Advocacy and Housing & Asset Management Committees. Previously, he served on the Strategic Planning committee and is excited to help implement NWN’s new strategic vision.

    Outside of NWN, Jonathan is passionate about energy and climate activism as well as transportation access. Jonathan works as a research center Managing Director with the Great Lakes Energy Institute at Case Western Reserve University where he also manages the ThinkEnergy Fellowship program, a student-centric energy innovation program. A strong believer in equitable transit access as a fundamental component in personal and socioeconomic freedom, Jonathan is particularly interested in the intersection of housing security, tenant rights, and mobility in creating a sustainable society.

  • NW Residential: Michael Flickinger

    I am a 13-year resident of the Edgewater neighborhood and a current Board member of Northwest Neighborhoods and a former Board Member and Treasurer of Cudell Improvement.

    My passions include economic development and job creation, promoting the neighborhood and area businesses , rehab of historic buildings and improving safety and livability for Northwest Neighborhood residents.

    I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and have served on the finance committee for both NWN and Cudell Improvement.

  • NC Residential: Moses Ngong

    Moses Ngong has called Detroit Shoreway home for the past three years, and has fallen in love with the neighborhood in his short time living here. He enjoys bringing neighbors together for Neighbor Nights in different parts of the community, and volunteering at the EITC tax prep site at the arcade.

    Moses wants to join the board to help leaders at NWN and around the community brainstorm ways to bring the diverse parts of the neighborhood together. And to find people to go to Lake Erie Scoops and XYZ with :)
